About Christie

Hello!

I can’t tell you how happy I am to be here and I am grateful every single day for the opportunity to be a huge part of so many women’s self-love journey. By now, you’re familiar with my brand and mission, so I figured I’d give you a little more info about me.

I was a makeup artist for 12 years before becoming a photographer. I worked with brands like Reebok and New balance, for magazines such as Muscle and Fitness Hers and Women’s Running, with celebrities Ellie Kemper, 50 cent, WWE Diva Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair, worked on videos for the NFL and Nascar, etc etc etc. I was agency represented and I loved it, but I knew I had more inside me to give so I walked away to start my own studio.

Apart from my career path, I also have three kids and I homeschool ALL of them. I know, it seems crazy but to be totally honest I absolutely love it. It’s a bond like I’ve never experienced with them before (and I get to relearn how to divide fractions and what an adverb is).

I love coffee (okay, lame, everyone loves coffee).

I lived in Uganda, Africa (less lame?) and it was one of the most incredible experiences of my life.

I have bipolar disorder and I speak openly about mental health and share my, and others’, experiences and struggles within it.

I love what I do and there’s not a second that goes by that I’m not humbled by it. My camera is my tool and I’m merely a vessel that guides you towards seeing what was already there all along. Being a photographer affords me a unique gift. Only a photographer (or artist) can actually physically show you exactly what they see with their own eyes. Often our own version of ourselves is skewed, dark, flawed. It becomes impossible to see ourselves objectively. All I’m here to do is to show you another perspective of yourself, the one that I see with my very own eyes. And I’ll be honest, it’s more beautiful than you could ever imagine.

My why

I spent the better part of 12 years pursuing a career in NYC as a freelance Makeup Artist and Hair Stylist.

I spent years studying the work of the photographers around me, inspired by their use of light and shapes to make art. It was an industry full of excitement, beauty and creativity and I loved to be a part of it. There was just one thing missing… access. I saw an opportunity to share that very incredible experience with the everyday woman. I found a way to merge the high end feel of the editorial style with the emotional connection of raw intimacy combined with fine art portraiture.

So here I stand as a photographer of women. Celebrating their femininity in all forms. We’re constantly told we can’t contradict ourselves but I believe that goes against our very human nature. We are complex beings, filled with incredible abilities for expression. You can be both emotional and bold. Rough around the edges and dainty. Strong. Soft. Silly. Serious. Reserved. Outgoing. Protective. Easy going. Nurturing. Ambitious.

You don’t belong in a box, you never did, why have you put yourself there? My sessions focus on celebrating the exact human in front of me for all that they are.

the silk and the audacity

“You are the most supportive, safe, empathetic, loving photographer I’ve ever shot with. It helps you’re a woman but it also helps you’ve worn so many hats in the industry for so long. You know the beauty in our souls and you make it come out with the beauty that’s in yours. You are magic and anyone in front of your lens becomes magic too.”

“I wanted to take a minute to say thank you for making me feel so comfortable. I can’t believe I was fully naked! I felt you were truly yourself, no gimmicks just real no BS and that made me feel at ease.”

It is one of my greatest joys to be here with you on this journey. If you’re ready to dive right in or have a few questions, don’t hesitate to reach out. It’ll be me that responds to you, it’s me on your consultation call and it’s me from start to finish. This is a vulnerable experience, I’d never let you do it alone!
